OVERVIEW
One River School's Advanced Teen Summer Courses guide students in the creation of unique, high quality art and design works that demonstrate technical expertise. Experienced educators provide students with the motivation, guidance and technical skills to take their work to the next level.
The program is structured to provide an experience that is both rigorous in its approach and individualized to the needs of each person’s artistic aspirations.
COURSES
STUDIO ART OPTIONS
DRAWING
INTENSIVE
Demonstrate knowledge of reductive drawing techniques, isometric projection and linear perspective.
Create 2 final drawings:
#1 Observational Still Life
#2 Curiosity Inspired Drawing
FIGURE DRAWING INTENSIVE
Draw from a live model, rendering the figure through gestural, block-in method and continuous line drawings.
Create 2 figure drawings:
#1 Proportions & Measurement
#2 Figure in Light & Shadow
OIL PAINTING INTENSIVE
Get comfortable with oil paints, mediums and varnishes while learning techniques likes impasto, grisaille and value / color blocking.
Create 2 oil paintings:
#1 Traditionally Constructed
#2 Symbolic Painting

GUIDED STUDIO
Create 2-3 artworks that are individualized to your school application, portfolio gaps and personal interests.
Draft an artist statement
Participate in group critiques
Digitize your artwork

PHOTOSHOP
INTENSIVE
Advance your Photoshop skills and learn how to make amazing digital paintings and flawless photo composites.
Create 2 final designs:
#1 Surrealist Self Portrait
#2 Wet Media Digital Illusion
ANIMATION
INTENSIVE
Explore pre-production, storyboarding, secondary actions and camera control in this advanced animation course using Adobe Animate.
Create 2 final animations:
#1 Original Story Test Play
#2 Original Animation Line Sequence

Create 2-3 individualized artworks that are individualized to your school application, portfolio gaps and personal interests.

One River School will be hosting a free, virtual event designed specifically for high school students who are interested in learning about the application, portfolio and interview process for higher education fine art and design programs. Join us to hear from admissions directors, professors and students at top art colleges and universities across the U.S.
Panelists will answer questions like “What should be in my portfolio?”, “How do I stand out amongst other applicants?” and “How can I prepare for the admissions interview?”
This event is for: Parents and students considering a fine art or design programs, those in all stages of their portfolio development and Educators who want to learn more about today’s process.
